Right so I'd like to start of my blogging with some travel advice. Seeing hotels4u.Com's twitter question i decided to write this blog. They mentioned that Prague is a romantic getaway. A fact I fully agree with although it is also fantastic for a girls weekend. I have in fact been to Prague twice. The first was with my partner and the second on a girls weekend. I got 5 days and 4 nights in November and stayed in the Zizkov area which is the Ohrada tram stop. This is just a 20 minute tram ride from the centre of Prague. This only cost £80. The second time was a bit dearer at £120 but we did go in the summer. Both times we stayed at the same hotel. A taxi from the airport to the Ohrada/ Zizkov area is quite cheap around £25-30 and can be booked in advance from most hotels. I would highly recommend this on the second occasion i decided not to. This resulted in us all getting quite lost trying to navigate bus, underground and trams. There are a few must See's in Prague and mine may not be to every ones idea's but here goes. I'd highly recommend visiting the Charles Bridge and walking along this. Under the bridge hosts a place for local artists to sell their works as well as on the bridge itself. I personally picked up 6 small pictures for around £45 which is a bargain to look at the quality. From the Charles bridge you can walk towards the french embassy which plays host to the Lennon wall. This is a tribute to John Lennon and has a vast history dating back to his death and Prague's struggle against communism and free speech.
A trip to the old town square will be worth it. There you can find the famous astronomical clock and it holds markets and stalls on most days. Also available from there are horse and carriage rides through the city.
Also a must see is the 'Prague castle'. It is not how the name would suggest. It is a huge walled structure which holds the old royal palace and many other buildings. The one i was compelled by was a huge Gothic cathedral. The architecture both inside and out is breathtaking and will leave you going back for more. Also housed in the walls is a life story of the royal family and various cafes and snack places. Another must see is the toy museum. If you loved barbies as a child then this is heaven. It hosts a whole floor of nearly every barbie every made including actors, singers and TV characters plus many more. For those who are wanting to go for a weekend away either men or women then try the wine bar outside the walls. You sit amongst the vines so you know exactly where your wine is coming from. The wine is quite cheap as well about a pound less then you would pay in England. If like me your a fussy eater the Rocky o'rileys is a fantastic place to it. There are signs in wencelas square directing you to this. Meals are about 600 kc. The national museum is a good day out but you will need at least 3 hours to get around this.
when walking bout remember to keep your bag and wallets close to you. If someone asks you for directions or help then just apologise and walk on as this is a known trick to mug you.
Last but not least enjoy Prague. It is a beautiful city to just walk around and discover for yourself.
